Team Role: Assistant Game Designer/Producer, Audio Manager

Game: Unreal Tournament 3 Team Project

Team: 16 (7 artists, 3 programmers, 6 designers)

Development Time: 16 weeks

Tasks:

  • Maintained Sprint task lists and project schedule for team members
  • Created documentation for the team (Asset List and Development Plan, Game Design Doc)
  • Developed overall game design with other team leads
  • Planned and worked on in-game Matinee sequences with team members
  • Composed custom Play Soldier soundtrack and managed audio for the game

Description:

Play Soldier lets players experience blowing up childhood toys in a six year-olds imaginary city. Players cause tons of destruction while liberating their city from the evil dolls of their older sister.

The more destruction players cause, the more excited they get. More excitement means access to cool powers like smashing surrounding enemies with a toy T-Rex and firing more rockets!

Elastiball

Team Role: Lead Level Designer

Game: Unreal Tournament 3 Team Project

Team: 7 (3 artists, 1 programmer, 3 designers)

Development Time: 8 weeks

Tasks:

  • Wrote Level Design Document to support the game's design and vision
  • Implemented a custom menu system using Kismet, Unreal Script, and Unreal's UIScene editor
  • Designed the layout for two, fun goal scoring areas
  • Placed art assets within two goal scoring areas that took advantage of the game's slinging mechanic (like Spiderman)
  • Communicated the game's level design during team presentations

Description:

Elastiball takes team sports games to a new level of excitement by introducing a fun slinging mechanic as players race to score goals!

The level included seven scoring areas that featured unique slinging environments.

Return of the NOM

Team Roles: Game Designer, Project Lead

Game: TorqueX Builder Team Project

Team: 4 (2 artists, 1 programmer, 1 designer)

Development Time: 8 weeks

Tasks:

  • Created original IP that won award for Best Enemies at the 2008 Guildhall Exhibition
  • Managed the team's Sprint task list and project schedule
  • Maintained the game design document, and asset and development plan
  • Designed, documented, and implemented three levels in Torque
  • Added and manipulated Torque components to create fun gameplay
  • Added C# code to TorqueX engine to support a dynamic camera in "cut-scene" sequences
  • Composed custom music and managed audio for the game

Description:

Return of the NOM challenges players to save the princess to save the kingdom! The game introduces a fantastical story with unique characters and colorful environments that immerse players in an original world.

Return of the NOM is a side-scrolling action/adventure brawler where players must defeat the NOM and rescue their beloved Princess Sasha. This 2D adventure won the "Best Enemies" award at the Guildhall's 2008 exhibition.

Sapporo Showdown

Sapporo Showdown was a freeze-tag mod for Unreal Tournament III. I served as a Level Designer for this project and worked in conjunction with another designer on Zen Garden, a level for this mod. The following screenshots show the areas of the level I worked on for this project.
