Financial Aid

The Guildhall at Southern Methodist University is dedicated to making a high-quality education affordable, regardless of a student's family circumstances or income level. Most students who attend SMU receive some form of financial assistance through government loans, private loans, or scholarships.

SMU advisors will assist you in every step along the way to receiving the funds you need. But a good first step is to complete the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which has special programs for graduate students.

To Complete the FAFSA:

1. Go to http://www.pin.ed.gov and apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
2. Go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and use your PIN to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
3. Request that your FAFSA be sent to SMU, Title IV Code #003613.
4. Be sure to respond to all additional requests for information as quickly as possible.
5. You will be notified of financial aid awards in a timely manner.
