Application Checklist
These steps must be completed for an application to be considered. The first four steps must be completed in order.

$100 USD Nonrefundable Application Fee.
Statement of Purpose
Your essay is an important part of the application. The essay can be mailed to us, or submitted online. It is free form, but at a minimum should touch on the following questions:
- Why do you want to go into the digital games industry?
- What are your plans for the future?
- Why do you feel you should be admitted to The Guildhall at SMU?
- How will your attendance contribute to The Guildhall at SMU?
Completed Portfolio Assignment and Example
The assignment, which is a fun exercise that all the applicants will do, together with examples of your work will allow you to showcase your aptitude and special talents. More specific instructions for these will be available after you have completed and submitted your application.
Official Transcripts
These must be sent directly from the issuing institution to The Guildhall at SMU.

Standardized Test Scores or Other Official Documentation If applicable.
This includes, but is not limited to: GED, SAT, GRE, etc. Copies are acceptable at this stage.
TOEFL Scores
Only if you are a non-U.S. applicant and do not hold a degree from an accredited English-speaking college or university.
Letters of Recommendation If applicable
Letters must be primarily from non-family members who are familiar with your education or work background. However, a letter from a close family member who knows you well would be good too. These should be signed and sealed, with a contact phone number included.
